They say when it’s dark, look for light. With a global pandemic, a cost of living crisis, and now a humanitarian crisis that threatens to destabilise Europe, these last two years have certainly felt dim.

But through the hardship, loss, and toil, one thing shone through. Community. From the downright deification of Sir Tom to the banging of saucepans on front door steps, the pandemic unleashed an almost cultish unity.

Now, as Covid concerns are replaced by financial woes and sympathy for our next door neighbours is replaced by fear for neighbouring countries, the question will be whether the fellowship built during the pandemic can help us navigate future crises.
